Both
Your Houses
I began with ‘Romeo and Juliet’ scenario, and then
turned it inside out. What if instead of two warring families I
took two families who had been friends, but whose respective children
form a relationship and then break it off in the messiest way imaginable?
What would happen to the friendship? What would be the fall-out,
for all concerned?
This deals with families again, and offers no comfortable or glib
answers. I’m a great advocate of the satisfying ending, but
this one had to remain inconclusive, dealing as it does with an
agonising modern dilemma.
The title is taken from the play that inspired me – ‘A
plague on both your houses!’
