Hot
Breath
Cold Feet
Foreign Parts
I’ve put these three together, because although they weren’t
written sequentially, they do represent a sequence: three contemporary
comic novels with one heroine, the romantic novelist Harriet Blair
(yes, yes, I know…) her nice-but-dull husband, recalcitrant
teenage children and red-hot Greek lover. No one would call these
books well-rounded, and they’re not meant to be. I set out
to write laugh-a-minute stuff, and whether it works or not depends
entirely on the sense of humour of you, the reader. Lots of people
have found the books funny, but I suspect that for each of those
there’s two more who found them either as comical as paint
drying, or rather offensive. With humour especially, you can’t
win ‘em all.
I think the titles are self-explanatory, but I would like to say
that the middle one has nothing (unfortunately) to do with the
successful TV series of the same name – although it did come
first.
