Another very early novel, this – my attempt to write a simple love story. Love story – no problem. Simple? Well, not really…

While I was writing I soon began to appreciate the truth of the maxim that the power of a love story lies in the obstacles placed in the lovers’ path.

Without difficulty there is no narrative tension and no drama – no story, in fact!

So my ‘simple’ romance got a lot more complicated, and reaped the benefits.

A learning experience which turned out surprisingly well.
